Ah sorry for the edit again. I found a way to do it, but I want for it to be automated (that is, when I plug in the VGA cable to my laptop, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator would automatically be set to Dual Display Clone).
Does anyone know how to do this?

what brand/model of laptop, what video chip, and are your video drivers fully up to date. what does device manager say when the cable is connected and not connected?

Hello,
The laptop is an Acer Extensa 4230. Not sure about the video chip, but I am sure my video drivers are up to date.
I edited the above. I am able to use my TV to display my laptop screen, but I have to do it manually, as opposed to automatically before. -
With the VGA cable already plugged in. If you right click on the vista desktop and select graphics properties, you should have an option to select dual display clone. On my portege A600, once this has been set it becomes automated.
