I have an HP laptop that only has an AMD radeon HD 6320 HDMI VGA port and I want to connect it to my HDMI on the TV. HP technical support could not tell me if the VGA card could support digital signal output. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Could you connect it to a VGA port on your TV?

Conversion from VGA to HDMI (analog to digital) generally requires a conversion box which isn't always that good.

Unfortunately you cannot go from VGA to HDMI (analog to digital). The only way would be getting like a USB to HDMI adapter (essentially a USB video card) which aren't horribly expensive (40-80 dollars).

Note: passing video through your USB port consumes a huge amount of bandwidth, so there's going to be a trade-off between resolution, refresh rate, and functionality of other devices on the same hub (i.e., don't expect to watch at 1080p movie @ 60Hz while offloading data onto an external drive).

Not saying I recommend it, but Monoprice has a VGA-to-HDMI converter for $30. The reviews for it are a little mixed and I can't really vouch for Monoprice's electronics. Their cables are top-notch, but their electronics are a bit iffier.
