    Hi All,

If this has been covered, sorry. I did a search to find the info, but didn't find what I was looking for.

My notebook is running the T5600 dual core with the intel 945GM chipset. According to Intel, the chipset supports 4GB of memory. I purchased 2 2GB DDR2 SODIMM's and installed. I am running Vista Home Premium (32 bit). It boots and runs correctly (faster, actually), but will not wake from sleep...it hangs after the 'VIAO' splashscreen.

    Anyone have any information?

    Anyone done this upgrade successfully?

Thank you in advance for your help!

At the time the system was being sold it probably was only tested for 2GB by Dell, thus Crucial's statement. But it is well known the chipset supports 4GB of RAM.

You might need to update your BIOS. Sometimes, manufacturers BIOS out of the box are quirky with configurations that were not necessarily available when the model was sold. If it still gives you issues, you might need to look for a Microsoft "hot-fix" that addresses the issue.

Yeah, I know the party line from Sony, but began to wonder when I looked up the processor/chipset combo and found it supports 4GB (according to intel spec sheets). Decided to gamble and was quite pleased when it booted and ran great until I put it to sleep. All functions worked, and the OS saw all 4GB, but was only utilizing 3GB (expected that with 32 bit Vista). BIOS saw 3GB.

Seeing as the only problem seems to be waking from sleep, I was hoping someone has done this and has the solution.

Thanks for the info. I have installed the latest (only) update for the BIOS from Sony. I will look for a 'hot-fix' from MSFT. I have never looked for one of those...you have a link handy?

    Thank you again!
