I am reletively new to notebooks and was wondring is it posible to replase "ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD4650 graphics card with 1GB vRAM" in the new sony VGN-FW490.

Here are the specs 4 it:
    16.4" widescreen with XBRITE-FullHD? LCD technology (1920x1080)
    128GB Solid State Drive
ATI Mobility Radeon? HD4650 graphics card with 1GB vRAM
    Intel? Core? 2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06GHz)
Microsoft? Windows Vista? Home Premium 64-bit
    8GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 4GBx2)

also if it is not posible could you please point be in a direction of a simular laptop with better GPS and simular or better specs. thank you in advance for your input its very much appriciated. :D

No, you cannot upgrade your GPU because it is soldered to the motherboard. Asus G51 has GTX 260M, MSI GT628 has the GTS 160M - both 256-bit cards and far better than the 128-bit HD 4650.

sgogeta4 is correct. Do note, however, that even those two notebooks' GPUs cannot be replaced, just like 99% of the notebooks out there.

Check out the gaming section for relevant discussion regarding using a desktop GPU on a notebook, there is a lot more info there.
