Not sure where to post this question.. hopefuly one of you guys can help me out.

I need to get a VOIP phone. If I get a wired phone, is there a way to connect it to a wireless router type thing? I'm not sure what I would need..

I'm asking this because my roomate's room is the only one that has a wired connection to the internet (although we do have wireless) and I don't want to run a cable accross the house and into his room in order to use my phone.

    Thanks! :)

I think some VOIP phones plug into a PC (e.g. via USB) and the PC typically plugs into a router. This is not a good option because the PC has to be on.
Others are wireless handsets which have a base station and the base station plugs into a router.
Others are like conventional wired phones but they also plug into a router and can send data via voip or via the conventional phone line.

Another option is a WiFi equipped mobile phone like the Nokia N80i. When in range of a Wi-Fi access point you can connect and use voip software like Fring or Gizmoproject (I find the latter better, at least in my region) - this avoids paying your mobile phone network operator for the packet data.

I have the conventional phone type where I connect it into a router. Is there a way to connect it to some kind of wireless access point that is wirelessly connected to the router? I don't want to have to run cables through the house to connect to the router in my roomate's room..
