    Laptop: Sony VGN-FW51JF/H (European model)
    chipset: Intel Cantiga PM45
    CPU: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo P7450, 2133 MHz (8 x 267)

I would like to put in a Q9100, quad-core mobile cpu.

WOULD IT WORK? FSB, socket fits, but that does not guarantee success.

I know about the potential cooling problem.

Would I have to mod the BIOS to recognize the CPU? Any forum on this:

Any advice is welcome, if you can steer me to a professional on this field, that would be also very helpful.

The laptop has already 4GB ram, SSD, 2nd HDD caddy, only CPU upgrade is left.

I wouldnt do that, you will have to mod the heatsink for it, since the cooling wont handle it. There was several threads about this, some got it to work, some didnt. The ones that got to work modded their heatsinks, as far as I remember

What you could do is to get a higher clocked dual core the P line is your best bet, being the T line the best performer

Or the P9xxx series. Same line as the T9xxx series but with a lower TDP. If you want to upgrade your CPU I recommend the P9600 or the P9700.
