Hi all, I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ180E and am very happy with it. Just one complaint and that is that the Hard drive is slow and small.

Mind you, I play a lot with VHD's which might be 10Gb +.

So I am thinking about upgrading, but for the life of me can't find which hard drive it can take. Is it just simply a 2.5" SATA, or do I need something special.

I was thinking about the 500Gb and than the fastest available, maybe 7200 if possible...?

    Any opnions and/or suggestions?

ps is there a difference between SATA and SATA II? Can they swap?

thanks mate, lightning fast reply, very happy now!

    I actually just found a WD Caviar® SE16 - SATA Hard Drives - 750 GB, 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM :D

Would this do? They look pretty cheap.

    Otherwise I go for the Western Digital 2.5” 500GB - Model - WD5000BEVT - “SCORPIO BLUE “ as suggested.

Thanks again, you made me a happy man!

    Welcome man.

Caviar is a desktop drive, the Scorpio is for laptops.
