I have a Vaio TZ myself and my dad has a Vaio VGC-RB30desktop. I have a 2gb SD card and a 2gb microSD card with the adaptor. Both aren't SDHC.

Both of these cards won't detect in our Vaio computers but both work perfectly in my brother's Gateway desktop.

Strangely, the Vaios can perfectly detect a 64mb MMC card.

What could the issue be? The access indicator blinks but Windows cannot detect the card. :(

Does the SD card reader show up as a device in Device Manager?

Any unconfigured devices in Device Manager when a card is in the slot?

Did you check the extra contact in the slot? (MMC has 7, SD has 8).

hmm, well I would reinstall the media card driver if you have not already. Both your systems should recognize cards up to 2gb without any problems. I would look up the media card controller online. Usually ricoh makes them, and you can simply update the firmware/driver online.
