I was thinking about upgrading the amount of RAM in my notebook to 1GB (512x2), but noticed some value brandname lines in the 1GB per-stick range at equal pricing or less than a 512MB stick of regular RAM. Are the value lines bad or anything? I'm trying to figure out why theyre so cheap....................

Corsair and kingston have the value RAM marketing names. Both are still pretty good and have the usual warranty, and I belive are pretested in the same way regular RAM is.
Sometimes they might have higher latency times. But in general they are just as good for the normal user. Only users who might over clock or want to play arround with the voltage will appreciate the added stability of the higher end RAMs. -

I have used Kingston ValueRAM, I would reccomend it if you aren't after really high performance. The stuff works and is cheap, but (at least in my mind) if you are after a nice rig, get the good stuff, because you do get what you pay for.
Value RAM?
