What is the difference between the cheaper "Value RAM" and regular RAM offered from Kingston, Corsair, etc?

i believe it has to do with where the chip is cut from the board. i don't recall reading any posts about people having problems with them.

    check this website out..

basically it is tested more to see how accurately it runs compared to its set timings. it would have a better memory chip, comes with a heat dissipator...etc..

    hope this helps.

    pb,out.

Yeah, crappy timings and instability are definitely high on the list of value RAM's negatives.

Typically Value Rams does not come with Tight timings. But that way it is more stable and compatible with more boards.

And performance RAMS typically (Like Ex: Kingstom Hyper X) comes with tighter timings, heat spreader( more heat with tighter timings).

As per laptops, I do not see much performance models and also there is no point as most laptops does not allow you change RAM voltages.

As said before better ram comes with tighter timings, lower voltage needs (sometimes) and higher frequencies. They are actually made with different quality wafers.
