I've been planning to get an Asus V1S notebook for quite a while and after reading about 3gb of ram providing much better real world results in the G1S and the F3SV, I've decided to buy a 2gb ram chip.
I found the Kingston 2GB ValueRAM DDR2-667 SODIMM for a good price, but I've been reading how value ram is not tested as vigorously and may result in loss of performance.
Is there a big difference between value and select ram for notebooks? such as in gaming and graphics intensive applications? Or would the value ram be the better choice?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked correctly. I've been searching google, but have not found any sites relating to notebooks.

What brand is it? Corsair Value Select RAM is actually pretty awesome compared to any generic RAM out there.

Its Kingston, I think they are a pretty reliable brand as well. -
My frienddd that is SEVERELY overpriced. I'll give you some other options that are just as good, or better, for less money.

better prices in the RAM Deals thread

ty for the better prices. Looks like I should have looked there before. But does anyone know the difference in performance-wise between Value Ram and Select Ram for notebooks?
-
None really... if you get REALLY BAD value RAM, sometimes your web browser will crash. But in terms of performance it's really none. Value RAM also doesn't last as long as the select RAM.

Will Decent Value Ram last me for about 4-5 years?
-
You probabely will have a new notebook in 4-5 years! The ram should be fine.

Thnx all for the replies

value ram is fine. Just stick to name brands. Corsair, OCZ, Mushkin. You run into problems with value ram when you start using off brand stuff. But then the off brand stuff makes glitchy performance ram too!
I used to go nuts buying $300 ram sticks, but realized that I was only getting like a 10% or so preformance increase. And thats on desktops. Laptops arent very amenable to overclocking. Better to max out ram, HDD and CPU (if accessible and not warranty voiding!)
