So I bought an Acer Aspire One 521 not too long ago and it came with vertical lines on it. You can only see them if you look really closely (about 10cm away from the screen) at the screen. The line is consistent across the screen.
It looks sorta like this http://www.saurabhgombar.com/myMonitor.jpg, but its far less noticeable and much thinner. So thin that I can't seem to get a picture of it. When I connect the laptop to an external monitor the lines don't show up, so most likely not an graphics card issue. My questions is it is normal? If not what might be the problem?
I would just return it to Amazon but they are out of stock so I can't get an replacements. Also they don't seem to be selling this netbook anywhere anymore (the black one) and not for the price I got it for, so I'm pretty much down to these options:
1) Live with it (ehhhhh...)
2) Return it, get a refund and search for another netbook
3) DIY, replace the screen myself and spend $50.00 to upgrade it from a glossy to matte screen (IF the monitor is indeed the problem. Confirmation?)
4) Send it to Acer (God knows how long that will take)
5) Wait and hope that Amazon will sell it again in 30 days?
Advice?

i suggest returning it... it shouldn't have crapped out so quickly... IMO , it will allow you to get something better too...

in a way.. it really depends.. acer's aspire series is low quality... the timelinex is excellent...i don't know.. not a netbook expert.

Send it back to Amazon and got a new one at Microcenter with no lines and no problems! Very happy at the moment.
