I'm really baffled why when using ConvertXtoDVD, my CPU utilization is only in the 20-30% range. As a result when processing a 8gb file, it takes 2hrs. I tried doing the input/output from the hdd as well as the ssd and it doesn't make any difference. I've always read that video encoding is a very cpu intensive task so why isn't it maxing it out or using much more?

your program is not using a multi threaded encoder probably, that or something else is limiting the process.

HDD Bottleneck or some kind of pre-processing filter.

It does use a multi-threaded encoder. I have it set to use all 4 threads. HDD isn't the bottleneck since the same thing happens when I do it with the SSD. Actually it's in the 30-40% utilization range, but that's still very low.

What do you mean by pre-processing filter?

Are you using intel's accelerated encoder?

No which Intel video encoding program are you talking abut software wise. Google search doesn't really reveal one.

You have to use some program though. At the bottom right they have a list of programs that take advantage of the hardware transcoding. MediaExpresso seems to work well.

try another encoding program and see what happens.
