My Clevo P150em with stock 7970m 1.2 just died and i just bought another 7970m to find that it wont work with my laptop even if i flash the Vbios,
just wondering what would be a good upgrade/ replacement GPU that will work straight out of the box?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hmm are you sure it isn't a dead GPU? You should have no problems with 7970Ms if it's a Clevo card...

GTX680M should also work out of the box otherwise if you flash Premamod, a 970M/980M can also work...

If this new acquired 7970m is other than V1.2 it won't work....

If you want to max out your P150EM, get a 970m (980m may get too hot!)! That will prolong the right to exist for a couple of years! :D

dont mix up HM and EM machines here ;) HM works with v1.2 only, whereas EM can work with v1.1 as well :) im betting on either a non-clevo or downright defective card that the OP purchased...
