    Video Card Upgrade, Help!

    I have a Gateway 7405gx and im looking to upgrade the graphics card to an ATI mobility radeon with 128mb or more dedicated.

    Here are the specs:

    AMD Athlon Mobility 64 3200+
    512MB DDR Ram
    80 GB Hard Drive
    ATI mobility Radeon 9600 w/ 64 MD VRAM
    DVD+-RW Drive
    802.11g wireless

    Hi notabook101,
    Sorry to tell ya, but the video controller in about 99% of notebooks is not upgradeable and that includes your 7405gx. The only way to get more video memory or faster graphics is to buy a new notebook with the video controller in it that you want.

    just to backup bootleg2go, he is right you can't upgrade this part. Very few notebooks allow this less then you can count on your hand I think. In the future this should be changing but anything current or old can't be changed.

    He could upgrade to 128 only if gateway released the card for that model.

    what about compaq presario r3000..... i currently have a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 GP.....

    i know that they sell the same cmoputer type with Radeon's 9600....

    can i switch out my 9000 GP with a 9600 GP

    you cannot upgrade the 9000 igp.
