you need to switch your laptop to actually output over the S-video port. Look on your keyboard and somewhere on the number keys you'll find a blue decal that says LCD. Use your function button and tap that key until you see a picture. Reply back if that doesnt work

Okay I got a picture but it was really blurry and then it changed my screen resolution following to crash my brand new laptop, kinda scary. I dont know if its worth it, can i make it more clear even though im only hooking it up through component?

Nah its gonna look crap no-matter what you do. S-video always looks pathetic. Only way of improving the picture is to connect though VGA, DVI or HDMI if you can. But if you only have component in then I think your gonna be stuck with a blurry image.

I think your problem is you are trying to connect Svideo to component (at least that's what I get from your original post). The problem is Svideo is basically a 2 channel system, and component a 3 channel system. They do not interconnect.

Svideo separates chroma and luminance+sync into separate "channels", or the color and brightness if you want to look at it that way. Svideo is also limited to a resolution of 480 horizontal lines (limiting your display he res display to 720x480. Component creates 3 "channels" by carrying luminance+sync, blue-luminace, and red-luminance on 3 separate cables. Component is capable of higher resolutions, up to hi-def. Component will look much better for a computer.

This tells you you are connecting the Svideo out of your computer to the Component in on your TV, which will NOT work. It is like trying to connect your IDE drive to a SATA connector. While they both perform the same function each does so in a different way and one provides better performance (component in this case).

Also, the S-video to RCA is S-video to Composite, the most pathetic way to use for connecting stuff to your tv.
