I know that Vista boots much quicker on TZ's with the SSD rather than the 4200 rpm drive...

but could you get a TZ with the 4200 rpm drive, format it, then install Vista onto a 32 gig ExpressCard 34mm through the expansion bay and run your TZ that way with the benefit of having SSD, 100 gig HD, and optical drive?

Are there any bottlenecks through the interface with the ExpressCard 34 slot? Can Vista boot off an expresscard 34 slot? Is the throughput allowable/acceptable?

I don't think you can get anything as big as 32GB on the ExpressCard stuff, but I could be wrong.

I would be surprised if you could boot off the expresscard slot. Usually the drivers for that are loaded after/during the OS boot.
