Hi everyone... I just have a quick question.
Will vista make my Toshiba core solo notebook run slower? The only reason that I am consdering this is because Toshiba is offering a free Vista upgrade if you sign up by sometime in March.

Personally, if it's free, I'd say signup for the free upgrade, make sure you have recovery disks available to take your machine back to how it is now, and when you get vista give it a try.

If that sounds like too much work, then just stick with XP.

Your Core Solo will run Vista just perfectly, if that's what your're asking for..

Vista does not need an ultra-powerful processor, it's a common misconception. It doesn't require dual-core either; Vista won't make much more use of dual-core than XP. Dreamer is right in that your Core Solo notebook will run Vista with no problems. Just make sure you have 1GB+ of RAM.

Yes, I'd say if you want the beefier versions of Vista go to 2GB for good performance.

Also if you want Aero then make sure you get a graphics card with 128MB of dedicated graphics memory. That is kind of a requirement.

Oh and I forgot. It will say free upgrade but if you read the fine print then you will see that you still have to cover shipping and handling charges. In the case of Dell it was $10. Still alot better than if you were to go to a store though.

Vista runs perfectly on my brother's Pentium 4 desktop and will run perfectly on a Core Solo, don't you worry about that.
