... and quite a few others apparently. My Canon iP5200 printer isn't *that* old! I was trying to install Canon's EasyPhotoPrint software from the printers disc on my 9500. To make a long story short, Vista sent me over to a Canon support webpage. Turns out many of the Canon printers will not run with Vista. Holy Moly! I like my Canon printer and wasn't planning on spending more $$$ for a new printer. And if you've read my earlier thread about my 9500 not working with my wireless network, I could buy a new Vista-worthy printer and *still* not get connected.
Question, *if* the connection to the network is corrected if I want to send something from the 9500 over to the main PC, would I still need a different printer?

You need to install local printer manually from control panal and you need to check Windows Vista Requirements for hardware. Here one post available for printer installation it may solve your problem.

Have you installed the correct drivers. Perhaps the drivers are for Win XP, and you need to download new Vista drivers from the Canon website.
Perhaps it could be a simple problem with the printer cable? -

Canon's Vista drivers for the IP5200 are here.

Thanks for the link to the drivers. I was really happy to access them, but as luck would have it problems happened. I tried loading it but Vista was not cooperating. Long story short my 9500 can no longer see the original CD for the Canon's drivers. I inserted it after the new downloaded drivers didn't work. Now the 9500 is treating the cd as if it were a blank CD. I'm not sure what to do at this point. It wouldn't acklowledge the install CD and wouldn't open the downloaded drivers properly either.
Can I load the new drivers onto the main PC running Windows 2000 that I'm trying to network to?

Are you saying the Vista refuses to start the CD using Autorun, or does Explorer show the CD as empty?
Anyway, the better approach is the put the CD away and use the latest drivers and software off the Canon web site. The downloaded programs unzip into a folder called Canon. You then need to find and run Setup. If Vista blocks setup from running, right click and select Run as Administrator.

PS: This thread explains how to tame Vista's UAC. -
Dont run the downloaded program. You should be able to extract the actual driver files itself and just manually install the printer. Iv had problems with my Samsung printer in Vista until I said **** it and installed it manually.
