    Vostro 1400 and Fujitsu drive

    I ordered this drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822116093 and when I put it in my Vostro 1400 the BIOS detects it, but there is no activity and it's not functional. You can't hear it spin up and the HDD light never flashes. It works fine in an HP laptop I have lying around... did I miss something in the compatability listings?

    You may need to switch the drive into SATA 150 mode in order for the drive to work.
    Is there a jumper on your harddrive to select between sata 150 and sata 300 mode?

    If their isnt you may need to use a fujitsu firmware editor to change the speed at which the drive runs.
    I know Hitachi tool works well, you may want to use that
