I have a Vostro 1500 laptop with an integrated video card, it's an Intel 945 family chipset. I know i can not physically remove this video card. I know the Vostro 1500 line can be purchased with the Nvidia 8600 GS, and this is an actual video card that can be removed and replaced.

So i'm wondering, if i were to purchase the Nvidia 8600 GS, will i able able to install it into my laptop?

Does the motherboard that has the slot for the Nvidia card not exist on the motherboard with the integrated video card?

How difficult will such a process be?

what kind of slot does the Nvidia 8600 GS plug into?

If i can't upgrade my video card this way, is there any other way?

When you have an integrated part, you do NOT have an available slot. Sorry...

    thanks, :(

i guess i will settle for low quality on OBLIVION.

EDIT: I know this is a little extreme, but, what about replacing the motherboard with the one that has the slot? i know it's not practical, but is it possible? is it possible to even get just the motherboard of the laptop, and install it?

You could, but why do that, you should just get another laptop.
You would have to buy an expensive motherboard, and a graphics card, and then hope that it fits back into your existing laptop.

Its too much of a hassle, to even go through with.

Motherboard will cost you around $300-600, might aswell save for a better laptop with that money. Not worth the hassle
