Intel released their Core 2 Extreme mobile processor a while back now, the highest end processor being the X9700. So... WHERE IS IT?! All there is Santa Rosa mobile processors, all the T7500 stuff etc. Why on earth does no gaming laptop have it?!

Because the extremes are mostly a waste of money since they aren't noticeably faster than the T7700.

Do you mean the T7800 that is offered on the configurable HP8710W?

It is $425 for the T7800 versus $450 for the T7700. Where's the rip off?

no i mean in the 8510p. but, the price is most likely an error. the 7700 is essentially no different than the 7800 if overclocked, which is easy

    The T7700 & T7800 upgrade (from T7300) on the 8510P both cost $375.

Why not just buy the T7800 for the same price?

Thinkpad T61p also has the T7800, and it is the same price as the T7700. Not too bad IMO.

It's still a $330 upgrade, so it's not too good a value for the money. But yes, there's no point in getting the T7700 when the T7800 is the same price.

Games today are usually not CPU limited. I just read an article that showed a 1GHz overclock on a Quad core resulted in a 4-6% increase in FPS and 3D Mark 06. So you are totally wasting your money on the very expensive CPU's. There are some apps that benefit from a faster CPU, video encoding, etc. If you are gaming spend every penny you can on the GPU.
