I had my external HDD in a leather case in my blazer pocket today. As i picked my blazer up it fell out of the leather case and my blazer pocket and hit the ground. The case has a small dent and some scratches since. I go to plug it in to my computer and the light comes on but it is not shown in my computer. It is spinning normally now but it still doesnt show. I opened up the case and the actual HDD doesnt seem to be damaged. Anyone Help please!

Replace the casing, I've had this problem in the past where a damaged or malfunctioning casing prevents the HDD from communicating properly with the system.

On the other hand since you did drop the HDD it's possible some of the more delicate moving parts of the HDD have been irreparably damaged...

Cable, housing or drive simply failing. Does this work on other ports and other machines?

    cheers ...

Also look in Disk Management and see if the physical drive shows up.
