I put a 2 TB western digital Caviar green in a nexstar CX enclosure and connected it to my desktop and laptop with a USB cable. What happens is it detects the drive and says its ready for use but then it doesn't show up in explorer under windows 7.
It shows up as a harddrive in device manager, it says that its a USB device though, but it doesn't show up in windows explorer so I can't access it.
Anyone know of a solution? Thanks.

Right-click 'Computer' and click Manage. From there, go to Disk Management.
If you see the drive there, you should be able to right-click the partition and click 'Change Drive Letter and Paths' and assign a drive letter. -

Thank you guys! You are both right, it asked to initialize an unknown disc, now I think I should try to create a new simple volume on it from disk management.
Edit: Yes this leads me to formatting options. I'll do a format tomorrow and report back. Thank you!! -
I formatted and now its working fine. Thanks guys!
