I just got the My Book Premium 250 gigs and Backed up with the advanced back-up option(I chose what folders I wanted to back-up). Now its all done but I can't access them!!! I can only restore them as if I lost them. They are in a exe restore file. I thought I was going to be able to access these files just like I would access them on a thumb/flash drive by going to MY Computer and in this case F drive(MY book). I know there has to be a way to do this since it is a HARD DRIVE with the back-up software. I didnt intend to buy this just to have things backed up in the event I need them when something goes wrong with my system, but to access them whenever since it is additional space.
Any Ideas? The WD website is pretty confusing with tons of clickable options.

To do direct backup I would figure just copy the files you want to "backup" over to the WD My Book hard drive.

    Done.

Or use software like Syncback if you want to automate it, it sounds like the WD backup software is truely backup software and creates files that are restorable (but not files that you can browse through and copy things from).

You should be able to use the restore to browse through the files to restore w/e it is your need - You could also use the backup built into windows and schedule backup times...

Or you could just create some folders on the My Book and put the files that you want a copy of in those folders.....that's what I did with my after backing up the ecential files for the OS, and so on.
I put my personal files (pics, videos, savegame files, music, ect.) in the extra folders I created......these extra files work the same way as my flash drive with the exception that i have to plug in my My Book.
