WD My book Essentials 2 problems-object ownership issues

I'm having a heck of a time with this drive. I just reformatted my laptop, running windows 7 32 bit home. I plug this drive in and I have access to some files but other like my multimedia files I will click on the folder to open and get a "I don't have permission to access this folder" message. I then click continue and it says "you have been denied permission to access this folder" also says "to gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab". So i click that and go to sharing and it says not shared, i try to share it and it says "folder can't be shared" I then go to "Advanced Sharing" check share this folder and I get an "error occurred while trying to share Rock. Access is denied. the shared resource was not created at this time".
However, if I click on the "security tap" of the Rock property folder, click owner and highlight administrators then click "edit" and highlight "adminstrators" click apply it says"if you have just taken ownership of this object, you will need to close and reopen this object's properties before you can view or change permissions". When I do that I'm fine for that folder. The problem is that have at least 100 folders plus, it would a month to do that for each folder. Is there anyway to take ownership of an entire folder/object and it's subfolders? Any help would be most appreciated.
