I am thinking about buying the 74GB version of the WD Raptor for my desktop replacement laptop. Will this fit in my computer? It is the SATA version. Also will heat and noice be a factor? Anyone who has this in their notebook please let me know. Thanks.

... does your laptop take desktop drives? They tend to be way physically bigger than laptop ones (3.5" vs 2.5"). Yes heat and noise will be a factor, though how much depends on what this laptop is...
Howabout naming the laptop. -
I wasn't aware that desktop and laptop hard drives were any different. the laptop is a HP 9500t

Yeah it takes only 2.5" laptop drives, but apparently can take two of them so you might be able to RAID two together to increase performance.

Are there 10,000rpm laptop drives out there? 7200rpm seems to be the performance standard at the moment. Also check benchmarks as some 7200rpm drive are much quicker than others.

If it is 3.5" desktop drive, it will not fit the Hard Drive casing. I highly doubt the installation would work.
Your other option would be to buy a SATA 3.5 HDD external enclosure with an eSATA interface, and buy an eSATA Express/PCMCIA card. -
Yup, I would go for a 7200rpm drive if I were you.
Oh, when I saw Raptor, I jumped for joy. I have the 74gb (ADFD model) in my server and that this is fast!!!!
