I ordered a Dell Inspiron 1520 today and got a WSXGA+ display with it. My question is can I came with the WSXGA+? I've saw that some people say the WSXGA+ is the "low-end" of the spectrum.. but it cost the most. I want to play games like Oblivion, Morrowind, HL2, etc.
Also, if the WSXGA+ does cause a problem can I use an external monitor to play the games?
Thanks,

The only "problem" is that you may not be able to play modern games at native resolution (1680x1050) because the graphics card may not be able to handle it. At least not with high graphics settings. I'm assuming you got the 8600GT, right?

resolution has no effect on gaming, you can lower the resolution in game if needed, it might be a lil blurry but shouldnt be too bad.

1680x1050 (wsxga+) is only less than wuxga+ (1920x1200). It is a fine resolution and your games will look great. Most laptops run 1280x800.

With the Dell 1520 running the DDR2 version of the 8600m GT, it would be able to play those games at 1680x1050, but only at low to mid settings.
I would recommend just lowering the resolution to 1200x800 and increasing visuals to high. The 8600m GT shouldn't have a problem with putting out 40+ FPS rates in those games at these settings. -
You want to average 130-150 Fps in HL2, not 40. At least for CS:S
