I am ready to buy a Lenovo T61. Does anyone know if the WSXGA+ screen is better view-ability or simply better resolution. Is it brighter and easier to view outdoors?
The decision is between the 14.1" WXGA+ or the 15.4" WSXGA+. At this point, I think the only thing that would drive me to the 15" is if the screen is better in more than just resolution.
Thank you

I think that you should ask yourself which size you really want first, and then decide on a resolution... because really each is a whole different level of portability and batter life.
A 15.4" will be something that you CAN bring everywhere but it is much more of a hassle... but on the other hand you can get much better performance out of a 15.4" (depending on hardware of course)...
Just my $0.02. Hope this helps! -
I have the 15.4" WSXGA+ on my T61, and it is a nice screen. The lenovo control software gives you about 20 different power levels for the brightness of the LCD display. The screen is not glossy, it is just a standard screen, and it handles the light pretty well. I havent used it outside, but it should be fine.
DO not get the 15.4" with the WUXGA+, many have complained about the screen quality on it.

WSXGA+ is a pretty high resolution for only a 15" screen. Are you sure text would even be readable at such a relatively high res? I would to with the 14 inch.

Ok, I just learned the following from Lenovo.
14"
Resolution: 1440x900
NITS 200
Contrast 300:1
15"
Resolution: 1680×1050
NITS 200
Contrast 500:1
So any opinions on how much of a difference the contrast ratio will really make indoors and outdoors.
Thank you for your thoughts -
I have t61 WSXGA+. Screen look ok, not as bright as my benq lcd monitor
It is really hard to see if you are outdoor. -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I'd think that screen brightness would be a much larger factor when trying to view an LCD outdoors. Seeing as the screen brightness on both units is 200 NITS, I'd say you'd have a hard telling the difference between the two outdoors (and according to sampunk, neither will be very good for outdoor viewing), despite the difference in contrast ratios.
WSXGA+ vs. WXGA+
