Can you guys please vote for this survey. Of course, there are many factors that could affect your decision such as $175 difference between them, so I really appreciate if you guys could share some words after voting.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

PS: I already opened a thread on the the sager's place but since this is more like a general question so I think it would be more proper to have it here.

    WSXGA+ Glare, easy choice.

For one, I prefer a WSXGA+ resolution for a screen of 15.4". I mean, that is a plenty high DPI, it gives a very sharp image, and I find WUXGA to small for a 15"

Between Glare and Matte, well, I would prefer Glare for an entertainment laptop, and matte for one that will be used during the day for work etc. Glare gives a more vibrant image, I prefer it for games and movies, especially since I do that mostly in the evening when the room is not so bright and reflections are not an issue.

I would always get the WSXGA+, even if it were glare. It's a lot easier to get an anti-glare screen protector than change a matte screen to glossy. 3M and buyviewguard.com has several products that work well.

I have the WUXGA on my 15.4" sager np8662 and I love it. Some peopl said it would've been overkill but the smaller text doesnt bother me and allows better multitasking. The quality of the screen is nothing short of spectacular =] imo, ofcourse

u can change all of yur text and icons via DPI settings. set them to whatever u like if they're too small.

    i voted WUXGA. i'm a WUXGA-user for life...until they come out with a better resolution ;)

Wow, it's pretty amazing to me to see there is a huge difference between this thread and the other thread that asks a kind of the same question except one part where it does not mention "matte" or "glare". It seems like the argument of text size and icon being so small if using WUXGA is not as important as if the screen being "matte".

More vote if you can please!

    WSXGA+ glossy. 3 reasons why:

    1. Lower native resolution means that more demanding games can be played at native resolution with higher frame rates/higher settings.

    2. Glossy makes the colors look nice and bright.

    3. I'd spend that extra $175 on an SSD.

So if having Glare Type does it mean we have to turn off the light when using the computer?

Possibly, if you're really bothered by reflections or if the screen is not at the brighter settings.

I voted for WUXGA matte. Although I would much prefer a WSXGA+ screen on a 15.4" screen, for me a matte coating is even more important than the resolution. I have a laptop with a glossy screen (and it's not even the super-glossy glass-overlay type) and I can barely stand using the screen during the day.

Glossy can be easily changed to matter via anti-glare protector... it's cheap and effective... I chose WSXGA+ because I feel that is a better resolution for me.

Glare means glossy. If you are in a very bright room, or have a window or something behind you, you will see a reflection of it in the screen.

    It depends
    -How bright the room is
-How bright the screen is (a bright screen can help counteract reflections)
-What colour is on the screen (dark colours reflect more than white)

Just go and check some screens out in a store, that is the best way to understand the difference.

well my clevo reseller, kobalt, can do a matte screen @ WSXGA+

I initially had the glossy version whilst they waited for matte to come in stock, they then swapped out to matte. Matte is much better, brigher I'd say.

I used to be in the glossy-haters group before, with my older notebook. It had a regular CFL backlight. My new laptop is LED backlit, therefore it's a lot brighter. Because it's brighter, there's practically zero glare, unless you're outdoors in a sunny day, with the sun reflecting directly onto the screen.

I would choose the WSXGA+ "Glare Type" personally.

WUXGA is too small on a 15". And i much prefer Glossy. Better colors, crisper, and generally better in quality. :D

I have WUXGA on a 17" and I think that's pushing it. It's fine if I sit directly in front of it but I have it set up with external keyboards and such, which pushes me away from the screen. If I were to lean back comfortable into my office chair I'd have some difficulties reading (I have good vision). To imagine this resolution on a 15" makes me shudder. I don't care so much about glossy or matte, but I understand how it can be a deal breaker for some.

I found WSXGA+ as beeing wayy too small for my 15.4 but in a few weeks I got used to it since lowering the resolution made the text blurry and increasing the dpi gave ugly errors in some programs while others were not affected.
On the other hand I worck with the back against the window(+sun most of the morning) and that is not an issue since on a alaptop changing the angle of the monitor to your liking is piece of cake.

So WSXGA+ gives small fonts as it is I couldn't even immagine using WUXGA.

I'm thinking though to get WSXGA (with or without "+") matte but i can't yet find one that's tested and proven to be good....
