I would like to ask if the difference is only in the native resolution or in anything else. In other words, if I choose to have WXGA over WSXGA (laptop display), do I chose to have only "bigger" fonts and icons or do I chose lower quality of some kind too? thank you!

I know it is in the size of the font. But I was thinking about getting a WXGA on 15,4" display and a lot of people are saying that its a bad choice and WXGA+ would be better. But I have seen WXGA+ on 15,4" today and it was a little bit hard to read....and since it makes no sense to be using the display in other than native resolution, Im not getting 1660xsmth to set it to 1220xsmth. is there any other difference than in the "size of the fonts" and fitting more info onto the screen? is 1440x 900 better in anything else when compared to 1220x800? thanks

WXGA+ would be the best compromise, but if you have trouble reading it, stick with WXGA.

WSXGA+ shows more on the screen so less scrolling or easier to use multiple windows vs WXGA. I prefer higher resolution as I don't have vision issues. It is a personal choice and you should try and view the two and decide. Now if I watch 720 HD video on 15.4 WXGA it will be physicaly larger than 15.4 WSXGA+ 720 HD. So if you are going to watch a lot of 720 HD without stretching a WXGA actually has an advantge in my opinion, WSXGA+ can't do 1080 HD either, WUXGA can but well you better have good eyes on a 15.4.

as mentioned by someone else...i agree with wxga+ is your best option. . its not too small or too big...

Screen resolution is preference. If you like WXGA, why do you care if someone else likes WSXGA or WXGA+.

WXGA is perfect for me.

It's preference, yes, but I had a WXGA display on a 15.4" notebook and I could glaringly notice pixellation on movies, it was horrible.

You can always change the DPI and system font sizes to something larger on a higher resolution screen without things getting blurry and screwing up application UIs.

As noted screen resolution is entirely personal preference. I use a 1920x1200 display and a secondary 1680x1050 screen with my desktop, and I have a 1680x1050 on my laptop; I love high resolutions because they offer so much screen real estate. The real advantage of high resolutions is being able to use multiple windows side-by-side and see a lot of detail in high-res images. I also like not having to scroll as much in web pages and other applications.
I agree with a comment earlier about how if WXGA+ is a bit difficult to read that WXGA is probably the way to go. You don't want to cause yourself eye strain. You can raise the DPI of fonts to make them easier to read so that is one option if you want the higher resolution. That is what I would recommend doing. -
WXGA is a perfect res for a 14.1"

so you went with the wxga?

I chose the WXGA+. I will be reading a lot on my laptop ( In production). I thought this resolution would give me better reading experience and more space on the screen !! Did I make a mistake??

I have a 17 incher with WUXGA and a 17 incher with WSXGA and a 15 incher with WXGA.
It`s a question of preference, but WUXGA fits the profile best for 17 inch and above,WSXGA+for 15 inchers and so on.
