I am currently in collage right now and I'm looking to get a computer for next semester that will run auto cad and autodesk on it. I have narrowed my search for computer to either the dell 1520 or the vostro 1500. But I heard rumors of new processors coming early next year that will run at significantly higher clock speeds. And I am one in a few that would greatly reap the rewards of a faster processor. Would Dell implement these faster processors right away into their lineup and should i wait for those processors before purchasing any laptop?

Wait as much as you can, then buy a laptop when you need it.

The difference won't be that big. The T7500 performs like the E4500 (same bus, same speed, T7500 has 2x the cache) so... The best you might see is something performing like a E6550. The 7500 is amply enough for anyone already.

If you can, you should wait though

i ran autocad on a pentium m 1.2ghz intel 845 graphics and 512 mb ram during college. it ran perfectly fine. its not as demanding as most people think. the only thing i would recommend when it comes to autocad, is get the highest resolution screen you can. you can thank me for this later.

What i meant to say is that I will be running audodesk which is used to design buildings. I already own a Inspiron 9300 pentium m 1.73 ghz with geforce 6800 and it runs it ok, but it doesn't compare to the desktops I've run it on. I agree with you thought nizzy, my laptop i own now has a resolution of 1920 by 1200 and it looks amazing with audodesk even though it runs slowly. When you render the building to be photo realistic, it can take up to 5 min for every image. When you want to do a video walk through, my current laptop takes 24-36 hours.
