I've recently had to replace my laptop due to a MB failure. The HDDs in it (it had 2) are still pretty new and I wanted to enclose them and re-use them for file storage on my home network. I've been online looking at enclosures at NewEgg that would allow me to do this but I didn't see anything that looked like the obvious solution.

Has anyone else out there been successfull in doing this. It seems a shame to waste about a TB of perfectly good disk space.

I have a Black Widow "toaster style" docking bay for them, but I wanted more of a permanent enclosure.

    Thanks,
    Don

Look for a network NAS or better yet, if you have an old PC, laptop, whatever, build a Windows Home Server (original v1, not the new WHS 2011).
