Hey guys, I bought a Dell Studio 1749 about 2 years ago but am now finding it is struggling to run games.

Witcher 2, Deus ex both really badly.

As a result I'm looking to buy a new 3D card, with desktops I'm fine but for this laptop I have no idea what card I can even get, let alone which I should buy.

So I come to you for help, what card do you recommend I get for this Studio1749 laptop.

The card it has at the minute is a Radeon 5650 HD and 4gig of memory (I'll need some more of that too)

    Thanks!

I think you're out of luck buddy. I'm pretty sure that even though it's a dedicated card it's actually soldered into the motherboard as a discrete card that is impossible to change without changing the motherboard :/
There is another thread involving an external graphics card called the egpu so that could give you a major performance boost if you're willing to spend the money

Damn that kinda sucks to know :(

How much are we talking about for the external egpu?

    Thank you for responding.
