Ok, I'm wanting to upgrade the motherboard in my Dell Dimension e310 that only has a pci-e x1 slot, to this. http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D945GCZ/index.htm. I'm not sure if it will work because of Dell's stupid BTX cases. BTW: Other system specs are:
    P4 2.8ghz LGA 775
    1gb ram(2x512mb)
    80gb sata hdd

I mainly just wanna be able to put more ram in it, and a new gpu.
    Thanks in advance.

eyepwnuall some of us are desktop challenged here. You might want to post in the desktop thread or go to sister sight. Desktopreview.com I believe. I would help but well you would end up helping me so defeats the point?

The board that you picked out appears to be of the BTX form factor, but you may have problems with:
    a)front panel headers
b)possibly Dell proprietary power supply (looks like ATX connector but is wired wrong)
c)even being able to obtain the motherboard

Those are my basic concerns. If you have a good amount of money then you should just build an all-new rig. I don't see the point of upgrading a Pentium 4 because they are getting old and they are extremely slow. You can do so much better by taking ~$1000 and building a nice mainstream gaming machine instead of rehashing an old P4 box. Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: Found this. http://www.intel.com/cd/products/services/emea/eng/motherboards/desktop/308471.htm How about a new C2D? keep the Dell case to save $?
