Try removing it from device manager (also delete the drivers too, if it asks) and re-installing the software after a reboot or two.
Seems just software/driver related, right now.
Of course, make sure you have the latest (or original, at least) driver / software before you uninstall. -
It seems like its running off one of Window's generic "USB Video Device" Drivers. -

i will try uninstalling and restarting as soon as i can restart -

Well, in my experience, that software also includes the model specific driver too. YMMV.
Cheers! -
oh, ok. my mistake. i had no idea.
Ill try re-installing it then. -
maybe an hotkey? once my webcam stopped working. tried everything, drivers, install apps etc.
2days later I realised that the notebook had an hotkey to activate the webcam... -
Ok, well i went and tried to go ahead and install the webcam software...
and well it didnt work :/
During installation, it goes fine for awhile and then i get this....
So, then it tries to rollback and i guess, un-do the installation... and this pops up.
ive tried Running as Administrator... tried compatability mode...tried re-downloading the installation file... dont know what to do...
...im trying safe mode in a bit... ill post back my results with that. -
Well safe mode for some reason just wont work at all.
anyway....
Bump!please help!

This is a long shot, but try to re-download the file to c:\ (root of C: drive) and run it from there. Installer might be getting confused with directories longer than ??? characters?
Since nobody else has any suggestions, you can at least try this.
Before you do this, go to device manager, uninstall the webcam, reboot and hopefully it should all go well once you re-download the file.
Good luck. -
Well... that didnt work either... same error message -

Wow, this is where I would see $$ signs dancing in front of my eyes as I tell the client:
'See? You need to reinstall Windows - it's totally #$@%$@%$ up!'.
Hope you can figure it out before then, but right now, at least, I'm all out of ideas.
Good luck. -
My 2 guesses are:
Software Issue or Hardware Issue.
In my XPS 1340 the webcam only works if the lid is tilted in a certain position, I know this is because a wire is loose or frayed inside the notebook(I don't have time to fix it...) So If you can, check the connections.
Another thing to do is a system restore. Restore the computer to when the webcam was working.
Perhaps the webcam is dead, or dying. -
Thanks to both of ya.
Yeah, maybe its broken physically... ill try a clean install i guess one day... not any time soon though. oh well -

At least we tried.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
