Ok, this is the processor I have:

    AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-68 2.4 GHz

I have run several speed tests and they all say my processor is 2400 MHz BUT when i go to canyourunit.com and see if i can run a game it always says that my processor is a dual Core 800 MHz rated at 1.6 GHz. I fail the recommended system requirements for just about every game for this reason. Anybody know why it is doing this?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Oh well. As long as YOU know it is running at 2.4ghz, then what it says shouldn't matter. They have given me weird results on my laptop also. They miss report a lot of my components all the time. plus a big flaw they always make is reporting the video ram as the shared number not the dedicated number.

This is happening because your cpu dynamically underclocks to keep itself cool and efficient. This is called AMD cool and quiet. It basically throttles your cpu down to use less power when all of its cpu power isnt needed. When cpu power is needed, the clock speed will automatically throttle back up to maximum performance.
I wouldnt worry about your situation, but if you want to see a difference, download orthos, and have it run in the background while you try and load the website.
Orthos will force your cpu to run at full power, thus the game site will pick up 2.4Ghz dual.

Having AMD cool and quiet enabled is perfectly normal and is used on all mobile and desktop amd processors. If you have a server, cool and quiet is the worst thing, and needs to be disabled via, force deleting it from the registry and your system. You dont have a server grade cpu in your laptop so dont worry. I do have a amd opteron processor, and from experience, you need to shut cool and quiet down for the opteron series to run stable.

haha, real funny. My AMD Opteron 185 will own any Intel mobile processor. ;)

The TL-68 is a very capable cpu, and it will not have any problems running even high end games. What will be limiting is the op's graphics card.

I'll give that Orthos thing a try. Oh, and my graphics card is the DDR3 HD2600 256MB. Thanks for the help

    Forget sys requirement labs, I have a T5200 @ 1.6GHz, and the site says I have a Pentium 4 HT 641 @ 3.12GHz.

A 2.0GHz+ CPU is good enough for all games, and multi-threaded games will pickup the advantage of the 2nd core as well.

well if that is the case, the site may just be completely inaccurate. Dont judge your laptop from that website anymore. If you have the Tl68 and the hd2600 your laptop will be able to play that game without any problems.

I just tried it and it said the same thing. But I won't worry about it. Thanks again for the help.

If there are specific games you want to play that you know are demanding, check out the 'can my notebook run it?' thread, found here:
