I bought two Samsung 470 128GB drives back in March, one for my laptop one for my desktop. I know the WEI is not a truly accurate benchmark but at the same time it should be relative to itself on the same computer and other computers.

When I originally installed the drives I got a disk score of 7.6 on both systems. Recently I refreshed my desktop score and it dropped to 6.6 I then refreshed my laptop score however it remained the same, 7.6

So, I am concluding that either the drive has degraded or a driver has changed. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

P8P67 motherboard, drive is on the first SATA III plug

How full are the drives, is TRIM enabled? Also you could use crystal disk mark to run a benchmark for comparison. 3 100MB runs should be enough.

Trim is enabled on both. Both drives have the same bios. Desktop drive actually has more free space, 77.6/109 compared with the laptop 42.8/94.7

Each drive has a 10GB unallocated space at the end. The laptop also has a 15GB linux partition.

it maybe because of the SATA connection on mobo, is it a reliable SATA 3 port?

This is kind of a desktop question, but since it pertains to a performance difference between a laptop and desktop, i'm inclined to let run it's course for now.

Anyways, given the motherboard, is the drive on the Intel SATA ports or the Marvel ones?

It's on the Intel ports. Thanks for letting it slide.

I suggest, you should use lowest no.port for sata. Also if your motherboard has other port on different sata controller.
    Try that.
