My newish Dell Vostro has suddenly started issuing white noise from the lefthand built-in speaker. It does this even with no programs running, including IE. Muting everything does nothing.

    I'm baffled. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Does it sound like hard drive interference being picked up by the speaker?

Thanks for the reply, and sorry for my delay.

It might well be that. That actually would make sense, given that it's apprently nothing to do with my Internet connection. Not sure why it didn't do this before.

Any suggestion as to what I could do to stop this interference?
