So I am interested in what you all think about the WD Drive and the Seagate drive. The Seagate is $110 at Newegg and the WD is $140.
So which one should I get? If the performance difference of the 500GB is that much greater than the 640GB I think I will take that over the extra 140GB.

there should be little difference in performance.. get the 640GB drive... its certainly less likely to die or have problems than the seagate ones.. these fail very regularly.
-
Wish I could take that vote back lol wasn't thinking, else I'd voted for the WD. I would try to find the Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM if you can instead of the Seagate if you want the best performance though.
-
Hmm I see.
I guess I won't be taking the Seagate drive. With the Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM I could not find it in stock anywhere. -
Is it new that Seagate drives are bad? Some years ago I kept hearing they were the best of the best.
-
They're ok, but they aren't as fast in reality as they should be in theory.
-
5 years ago WD HDD would die on me now it's Seagate HDD that die on me.
-
i swear by WD...
