this is a link to the current system I own and below are a few minor tweaks I have made to date P200804

First of all Vista SUCKS "just my opinion" so i put windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and i upgraded the RAM iv now got two Kingston 2gb = 4gb - 1gb being dedicated to video but iv noticed a few minor glitches with the lappy lately, when ever i try to run anything or do anything semi big like run a game or a big program it gets choppy, By choppy i mean if I'm watching a video while I'm doing things the video starts to jump and while looking at the performance section in the task manager i see a HUGE spike in the CPU and the RAM doesn't even take a hit.

I've also noticed that i desperately need to upgrade the stock fans in it as both the CPU and Graphics heat sink and fan are rubbish, I also need to know where i can get compatible one to replace the stock anyway back to my original question do i need to replace the CPU or do i need to replace something else and if i need to replace the CPU is it at all worth upgrading while I'm at it? If it is what CPU's are compatible with this motherboard. As well as any need to know information about pricing and what not would be handy as well.

If there is anything further you need to know to be able to help me please ask.

    Thanks in advance

    Ryan

You probably need to update the drivers. Check Toshiba and Windows Update. The CPU in your laptop is pretty fast.

You can put an extreme series like x7800,x7900, or x9000. The gains will not be worth the price of the cpu though.

u can upgrade to T9300, 9500 which will run cooler and should be better...but seriously ur better off buying a new laptop.. HD2600 is epic crap... and getting new parts is expensive and replacing them troublesome.. time to sell for scrap IMO..

You don't need a new processor. The one you have is pretty fast already. You just need to update the drivers. Heres the link: Toshiba Support - Homepage

And if you are a casual gamer your video card is great. No need th replace that laptop yet, it has a few more years of life.

This will just make it overheat. The Extreme processors have a TDP of 45 watts. You processor is TDP of 35 watts. I wouldn't do it.

Your CPU shouldn't be an issue playing videos or games...

what is then iv tried cleaning out the fans and iv heard from a few people that Toshiba has upgraded fans available but i don't know where to even start looking to find them does anyone have any ideas?

As for getting a new lappy i really don't think doing that is an option lol 1. I don't have the spare dosh lying around wish I did tho and 2. why do that when I might have a chance of getting another year or two out of this one.

When it comes to the updating the Toshiba drivers I'll try them now thanks for the suggestion I'll let you all know how i go later thanks peoples.

    Regards Ryan

What is your video source? What is running in the background? Is this problem new did not used to do?

There is no CPU upgrade that makes sense. HDD would make more sense. Are those 200GB even 7200? Even if so larger current much faster. Are you seeing the HDD light blinking like crazy when your lags happen? Do you defrag HDD?

    Anti virus running in background.
