Well I was looking around (eBay) and stumbled upon this little card. Firstly, it is (from what I found and seems to be correct) an MXM type card used in HP's 8710w, which holds nVidia's FX 1600M. Everything looked fine till I saw there was 3 different sections to the connection where it is normally two (I believe). Is this MXM IV? It's supposedly based on the 8700GT so not sure on details. Just wondering I suppose, not going to purchase the card since I don't really have a use for it...

Looks like MXM-IV or HE or even "Special-MXM"... found in Arima gaming notebooks (aka. Alienware M9700 & M9750).

what are the dimensions of the card... that would help determine its Type.

Well no clue on dimensions. I also saw a 7950GTX with the same 3 slots (as opposed to two) it was quite a bit longer though so that one was probably MXM IV while this one could be MXM III with the 3 slots instead of two that I am accustomed to seeing.

You can email Ice-Tea at www.mxm-upgrade.com

He would probably give you more info since he deals with MXM everyday. :)
