Hi All
I posted a thread her but still a bit confused on the exact process.
THREAD - http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/should-i-purchase-this-even-though-it-has-no-ssd.830737/
I am looking to get an SSD/Win10. I have never used Win10 but it's time to upgrade, the laptop i purchased has a 1000Gb HDD.
I want to add a 256SSD and seen this linked - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Di...words=m.2+sata+ssd&qid=1571134199&sr=8-3&th=1
Is that and good, i have heard of WD, so seems a good brand and cheap enough.
I plan on somehow installing a totally fresh Win10 on the SSD and use the 1000Gb for storage.
Can anyone help/advise on the SSD i linked.
Thanks

Please see my other response in your linked thread.
I would not recommend that SATA M.2 SSD. Even at $0.00. Do you know why it's 60% off? Because it's not even worth the £31.99 they're asking for it.
Spend more (and at the very minimum; at a 500GB capacity or higher) to get a vastly improved product in both reliability and performance.
The 1TB capacity is the sweet spot today for $$/performance. Anything lower and you're spending $$ for tech that is already obsolete and more than likely flakey and unreliable too.
If you want to have some real hope of using this 'new' computer as long as your old one, I would not be spending even £31.99 on such a low-end storage solution here as the link you're indicating. -
Downloaded windows.iso, creating a bootable USB now.
I presume i might have to alter boot sequence on new PC so it boots from ?

There should be a key you can press at the splash screen on power up that brings up a boot menu where you can select the USB drive. Once Windows setup completes its initial routine, it will reboot from the hard drive automatically. Said key varies by brand so do a search for "<laptop model name/number> boot menu."

I'm going to use the 1Tb HDD until l i have funds to get a decent 1Tb SSD.
The new one is bloody fast compared to my old Centrino....lol
I'm thinking of deleteing them ALL tbh or at least 1,2 and 3???Last edited: Oct 24, 2019 -

atm mate i'm using my old laptop as the screen went earlier, i have a usb keyboard and mouse and i'm running in safe mode with with an external display i had spare. Its terrible.
I just want it up and running, i need it running asap, i will probably do as above but get a better spec 256 SSD.
I just need this running now, it's a nightmare atm.
I can add an SSD in a few weeks, a decent 256 one, not the WD green.
How do i proceed mate?
