Logic leads me to believe that the mobility options are the MLC notebook SSDs, and the performance ones are SLC. Can anyone confirm this? I just had a very frustrating online chat with a Dell rep that couldn't answer this question, and led me in circles on their website.

Also, can anyone with either model vouch for their performance? Do the MLC Samsungs suffer from any stuttering issues?

Edit: this got moved from the Dell section, the title refers to two different Dell models, for now I'm leaning towards getting one of these for my father:

Edit2: Meh, to complete the story here's the sort of laptop my father is looking for:

i do not own any ssd's but from reading that every samsung drive works fine. The only time ssd's stutter is when they have a jmicron data controller. Samsung uses their own data controllers, so they perform good.
However SLC ssd's have higher performance and longer lasting cells than the MLC drives.

At least on eBay, the Samsung MLCs are pretty rare; my guess is that both options are Samsung SLCs... just that the mobility option is the older gen and that the performance option is the newer gen.

If it's 128GB it's definite Samsung's MLC. If it's 64GB, it could be a toss up btw the better SLC or the cheaper MLC.

I have both and they work fine. Performance is a little bit lacking with the MLC though. I also can't vouch for the quality of MLC as compared to SLC.

I have a Super Talent OX SSD. Works well for me. You might need few minor tweeks like turning off indexing, super fetch etc. Got 128gb for around $275
