Here a list of devices that can be used in a expresscard slot.
(bolded are what devices/modules I would use if I had an express card).
I agree with powerpack that if you dont really need it, then dont get it since it would be dead weight and conume battery life.
Also make sure that your laptop has a Expresscard 54(universal) slot since 54 mm(width) modules will not fit in a Express card 34 slot. -
How do you put a mouse in an expresscard slot?

PC card version

(express card version-pic too big to be posted. ) -
If you ask me, it's useless until they make video cards that fit in it. Unless you need something thats listed of course. -

UPS just dropped off my X54 Pro. Charging in my slot now.
Have the PC card version, as well. Only thing I didn't like about it was that it doesn't include a middle button "scroll" feature that the X54 and Pro do. Read that it is a little touchy, but will see for myself after it charges.
Also had to make up my mind whether to get the X54 or Pro. What sucks is that both have features that I wanted in one mouse. The X54 has a "media mode" and the Pro has a "presentation mode & laser pointer". In the end, I picked the Pro, as I have 2 Expresscard remotes that came with my M1530. However, the obvious downside is that the remote is another device that I have to carry separately.
To the poster that says it will give carpal tunnel syndrome, it isn't meant as something to use all day (however, it is light and fairly comfortable). Meant to be compact, out of the way, but readily available.
But, I will agree, to each his own. Personally, I'd rather use a mouse than the touchpad if I'm sitting down using the laptop for more than a few minutes. Just pop it out, flick it open, connects via Bluetooth automatically (X54/Pro requires pushing a button), and you're off and "mousing".
Some vids of them are on YouTube, for those that are interested. -
Being an electronic enginner, serial port is a must. PLC really loves it..
