I have an Acer Ferrari 3400, which according to the owner's manual utilizes soDIMMs and is able to support DDR DRAM. I ran AIDA and the information it provided was as follows:
Memory Bus Properties:
Bus Type: DDR SDRAM
Bus Width: 64-bit
Real Clock: 167 MHz (DDR)
Effective Clock: 333 MHz
Bandwidth: 2667 MB/s
I am able to install up to 2 - 1 GB modules per slot.
In view of this what memory can I install?
-
You can use any DDR 333 MHz RAM.

I used Crucial scan test and they suggest the following: 1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 memory module
CT352865
Module Size: 1GB
Package: 200-pin SODIMM
Feature: DDR PC2700
Specs: DDR PC2700 • CL=2.5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC •
DDR333 • 2.5V • 128Meg x 64 • -
Yes, that's anything on that page I linked.
-
You can use DDR400 stuff if its cheaper.
-
The higher the DDR rating the lesser the cost it seems. Does it matter which manufacturer I use for my purchase any major differences/discrepencies that should be noted?
-
Most major manufacturer uses the same source for memory chips, so it doesn't matter. Just make sure the company will back up the memory w/ lifetime warranty.
-
There are a variety of different DRAM manufacturers that make the actual IC's. But you're right that it doesn't really matter where you source them from as their differences are hardly significant in this application.
