I wanna save some bucks if possible on the media bay slot by using an NEC dvdrw with the V2000Z, would that fit 90 to 100%...I know for the bigger HP/compaq it kinda does. OR can the bezel be replaced?

Practically any slim drive should fit. You could also try a slot loading drive as this guy did...

That is what you should expect as a near perfect fit. The bezels ususlly are not interchangable and in most cases it would only fit the drives from the OEM manufacturer. -
You may want to give ulatradrives.com a holler. They specialize in laptop drives and may know what will fit, though I don't think they sell NECs. Master/slave can sometimes be a issue. I did replace a combo drive on an old Presario with a NEC drive a while back.

Yes give the slot loading drive a shot, if my dvd burner every needs replacement, I'm going with a slot-loader!

I had a slot loading drive. As noted in the other thread they are kinda noisy. You should go for the best burn quality which would be the NEC in my opinion.
What aftermarket DVDrw will fit nicely in V2000Z?
