I wanna save some bucks if possible on the media bay slot by using an NEC dvdrw with the V2000Z, would that fit 90 to 100%...I know for the bigger HP/compaq it kinda does. OR can the bezel be replaced?

Practically any slim drive should fit. You could also try a slot loading drive as this guy did...

That is what you should expect as a near perfect fit. The bezels ususlly are not interchangable and in most cases it would only fit the drives from the OEM manufacturer.

You may want to give ulatradrives.com a holler. They specialize in laptop drives and may know what will fit, though I don't think they sell NECs. Master/slave can sometimes be a issue. I did replace a combo drive on an old Presario with a NEC drive a while back.

Yes give the slot loading drive a shot, if my dvd burner every needs replacement, I'm going with a slot-loader!

I had a slot loading drive. As noted in the other thread they are kinda noisy. You should go for the best burn quality which would be the NEC in my opinion.
