I have a Dell D420 and an X1. Both have 1.8" drives that I would like to upgrade to SSD. I am looking in the 64-128GB range. Since the machines are older I don't need the best of the best, just something better than the 4200rpm drives they have now.
What are some decent options that wont break the bank?
Thanks!

Due to price I am probably leaning toward a 64GB, older model.
Maybe some sort of close out deal.
If this was 1.8" I would have bought 2 of them.

I was in the same boat, though with a ThinkPad.
This one worked for me. You get an intel ssd along with the adapters for lower cost. As of today, the item is discontinued but you could try other sellers.

For the Dell D420 see http://forum.notebookreview.com/sol...-1-8-zif-pata-ssds-available.html#post6861746 for SSD options. THe EWS720 units offering a balance of good performance and low power consumption at an affordable price.
The X1 has a 1.8" drive with a 50pin interface. I believe Runcore and Kingspec make drives to fit. Otherwise consider whether a IDE-to-ZIF adapter could be paired with a ZIF SSD to fit in the X1 drive bay cavity.
What are my 1.8" SSD options?
