I've heard of Thinkpads having phenomenal keyboards, but apart from this, what other keyboard are good?
-
i think most keyboards are good, the main things to look for, at least for me are
1. non-glossy keys
2. at least a little height on the keys
3. non-chicklet keyboard
thinkpads have good keyboards, but i think the idea that thinkpads have amazing keyboards goes back to an era when other notebook manufacturers produced horrible keyboards
chances are, most notebooks now that satisfy the above criteria have the same quality and comfrot of lenovo's keyboards
think about it, if it's such common knowledge that lenovo's keyboards are so great, i'm sure other manufacturers have incorporated their design into their own laptops -
IMO chicklet keys are at least better than the standard notebook scissor switches because of more tactile feedback.
-
mm, to me i don't like the chicklet keyboard, not because of the feedback, but because i find the keys spaced too far apart
-
in a way , its a little difficult to use a chiclet keyboard at first when comming from a normal laptop keyboard but it becomes easier later on.

There is no best, just opinions.
Though technically speaking some of the best keyboards are the full mechanical ones like the old IMB's they last a long long time, take a beating and offer good typist max speeds.
No laptop has a keyboard like that though.
In laptop land I hear people say the macbooks have good keyboard, but then again a macbook fan would say a lot of things I wont believe -

I prefer a keyboard that has a direct action with clearly defined positions. It needs to have enough key travel and have a solid feel. Also, it needs to feel sturdy and not flex.
ThinkPad keyboards are good, I also like the island-style (referred to by some as 'chiclet') keyboards on the HP ProBooks. HP EliteBooks supposedly have good keyboards as well.
In consumer notebooks, I like the Lenovo IdeaPad keyboads the best and some of the island-style keyboards on the HP Pavilions.
It is my experience that business class notebooks have better keyboards than consumer notebooks.
My advice is to find some notebooks you are interested in and then narrow it down from there. It is tough to generalize based on the manufacturer . . . each has notebooks with good and not so good keyboards. -
The best keyboard is the one that feels great in your own individual hands.Yes thinkpads are very good but then again the human hand can adjust to all shorts of working environments.
-
My favorites are the chiclet keyboards on Apple, Sony Z and HP DM3.

Over time you'll get used to w/e keyboard you're using. The only things I can think of that would truly ruin a keyboard for everyone who uses it is ridiculous flex or constant squaking
-
Thinkpads and macbook pros have great keyboards
-
i'd say Hp keyboards are great but the whole laptop overall is crap... IMO , best is Vaio keyboards and macbook ones sadly..

Tbh I can type on just about any keyboard >.>
At the end of the day the best is whatever feels best for your fingers. Personally speaking though I've typed on multiple laptop keyboards and after a while I just got used to them. -
Dogs check this out. This is by far the best keyboard ive ever used. You cant get it anymore but it was heaven just typing on it. I would totally get another if i could. They were $80 back in the day.
