940XM is the fastest first gen mobile i7. I woulnd't go for it unless your doing something very CPU intense.

    8GB's 1333MHz DDR3

Any 2.5" 9.5mm HDD or SSD will work. The fastest HDD is the Seagate Momentus XT. It has a 4GB SSD with up to a 500GB disk.

As for the graphics card: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/515383-gx660-5870m-upgradeable.html

You can probably find someone selling the CPU on eBay who will ship to Germany. Make sure you get an OEM CPU and not an ES or QS.

What Joker said, although you can can actually hit 12GB of RAM.

However, your computer will only be able to control that RAM if you have an i7. If you have an i5 8GB is your max.

For HDDS, a fast SSD plus a high-capcity HDD are very viable combos. You get speed for your OS and programs, plus lots of foomr for storage.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, you need Windows 7 64 bit to utilize more than 4GB's of memory.

I posted a tutorial above in my first post. When you replace the processor, you need to replace the thermal paste on the processor. If you don't think you're fully capable of replacing the processor, just buy the part, and pay a local computer shop to install it.

And, if your a gamer, I'd get the i7 620m or i5 560m or 580m, much better for games IMO.

A quad i7 with turboboost, especially if he's looking at the extreme models with unlocked multipliers, will outperform a dual core in virtually all scenarios. Even the 740qm should do it.

How many games a 4-8 threaded? Those are the only games that benefit from a quad. The OP stated the i7 extreme processors cost to much.

You don't need a new fan, just replace the thermal paste with the processor.
